Just Cause 3 Review

Just Cause 3 Review

Set on the island nation of Medici, a fictional country which resides in the centre of the vibrant Mediterranean Sea. It is safe to say, Just Cause 3's attempt at a stunning open world did not fall short. Its idyllic scenery plays the perfect oxymoronic role of providing a calmness in the midst of a flurry of destruction and chaos. Minus the "Black Hand" and the frequent nuclear-sized petrol station explosions, it would make an ideal holiday location for a family and some time in the sun! The story follows Rico Rodriguez, the main protagonist who's mission it is to take down the evil dictator, General Sebastiano Di Ravello and obliterate all traces of the "Black Hand". In this instalment of the franchise, Rico Rodriguez stays suitably badass and is now equipped with new technologies such as a wingsuit and grapple hook but to name a few. Swinging and gliding through the 'Grand Pastura' with physics defying speed and Spiderman-esque accuracy is a knack which may take some getting used to, but once mastered is a source of unadulterated fun! The game is littered with challenges which test your new found skills. They are often tight and adrenaline-fueled, bringing waves of nostalgia from 2016 elytra maps in Minecraft. In terms of completing the main story, the game does have some repetitive missions however, the opening sequence and final level are quite spectacular. Killing Di Ravello in his bavarium helicopter whilst trying to avoid the lava below, did remind me of the battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith! If you are a completionist like me then there is plenty of towns and military bases to destroy, along with races and cool challenges which when finished will earn you that 100% title! It is a similar method each time to liberate a base or town however the bright explosions and epic physics engine keep it addictive and amusing. Would I recommend: Definitely. The large fleet of weapons, cars, planes, boats and more will bring you back to this game even 6 1/2 years after its initial release. The graphics still rival many new 21st century titles and this JC3 will forever sit in the hall of fame for 'Games that are simply just FUN'. SCORE: 9/10
